"The
book is fabulous. The girls who really put a lot of work into it are
extremely pleased. The
teachers, staff, and administration who also took a peek are impressed.
Thank you so much for all of your support, hard work, and creative ideas. The
book gets better each year!"

| In
our student life section, we used a lot of modular design. We also
came up with a "Guide to Palm Beach County: Top 5"
this was a library package-piece that we used throughout the book
to insert our concept theme Living in Palm Beach County.
The guides relate to the subject matter and add interest and color
to of each spread.
In
order to increase the number of students actually IN the book,
we placed five small face pictures at the bottom, right hand corner
of each spread then we identified them in the index. This
series of five pictures (2005 ) appears on every righthand page
in the book.
On
the lefthand side of each spread a colored tab ( a different color
for each section - also made up of five small squares and topped
with our sun icon) works to unify each section with the total
book . This tab identified the topic of each spread.
In the sports section, we focused in on a senior who had a long
history with a sports team. These features were placed on the
page as a cutout with a short bio on a color bar at the bottom
of some spreads. We also used "Guide to Palm Beach County"
pieces such as, for swimming, Top five public pools in the county).
The green scoreboard with a drop shadowed overlaps a dominant
photo: the section color green is also echoed in the outline around
the team photo, the scoreboards, and in the palmtree in the Guide.

| This
has been a year of momentous change hence, the theme. The
theme centered on the new look on campus, the new President, the
new schedule, the new seemingly everything. Not wanting to do a
change theme, we did a change theme as in
a pocketful of change; in fact the exact amount as our volume #
and the age, therefore, of the school. Some people got it, some
didnt. But it worked and our look is impressive which
is a reward for the pain.
Meanwhile back in the staff room, although we thought we knew
the dynamics of the change to InDesign, I dont know that
you can understand them until you have to live with the anguish
each day. Suffice it say, we are thrilled with our book and especially
happy with our Gold Medalist critique. Having recently returned
from Taylors Summer Yearbook Seminar and brought home top
honors there, we are hopeful that, as they say, the 2006 book
will be better than ever.

| Their
2005 book will surely win awards. It was a Taylor National Sample.
It had a plain hardcover with a papercover slipped over it to give
it that "novel" look. |
